Are the BBR using the old 4,3,2 weights or the the new 5,3,1?

Also, does this weight ORCS the same as National tournaments?

They use 5,3,1 now but maintain the 4,3,2 for comparison. I assume it will weight ORCS just like the old National Tournaments.

Those rankings can't be accurate. If you want an accurate ranking take into account regional, ORC and National Championship records for this semester. I also agree, however, with RaneofDeath that rankings like this should be taken with a grain of salt because of team members leaving and graduating. In light of that information at this point it may be difficult to come a cohesive ranking system.

Hey man it was good to meet you too. Des Moines was a lot of fun but next year it will be in my homestate and in the hometown of a few of my team mates so I'm sure it will be an awesome time. What's even better is that we are losing only one attorney and a witness from our A team, 6 members are returning. I'm pretty excited to see what we can achieve.-Nate

Sounds like it will be a good year. Best of luck to all of you. If luck prevails maybe we can grab that drink I missed out on next year.  :gavel:

To answer a couple of questions:
1. These rankings were compiled pursuant to AMTA Rule 6.3;
2. No communication on this site is ever an official communication from AMTA.

You sound like a kid who played a year of little league and 15 years later comes to a game and yells, 'How can you bunt with runners on first and second and no outs in the bottom of the ninth down by 1 run!? Bunting is stupid, it looks funny, and nobody could ever score on a bunt!'

Depending on the situation bunting is probably not the most statistically preferable manner of bridging that one run gap. Why waste one of your three remaining outs in an attempt to move the runners along when swinging away allows for the potential to either tie, win the game outright, or move the runners along .  If you're worried about the DP put the runners in motion, if you're worried about having them thrown out pitch hit/run, and a flyout most likely advances the runner while getting the pitcher somewhat more flustered then a bunt would. Bunting is stupid unless you are in the NL or a World Series game with an NL home team and have a hybrid of Nolan Ryan/ Sandy Koufax up to bat.

I thought I would look at the relative strengths of the different ORCS and regionals.

Here is what I found:

UC Irvine had 5 top ten teams (UC Irvine, Cal Berkeley, UCLA A, UCLA B, and Stanford)

Hamilton had 4 top ten teams (Penn, NYU, Columbia and Miami)

Greenville I had 3 top ten teams (Furman A, Furman B, and Duke)
Greenville II had 3 top ten teams (Cornell, Yale, and George Washington)

Easton had 2 top ten teams (Georgetown, and Richmond)

Waukegan had 1 top ten team (Northwood)
Kansas City had 1 top ten team (Iowa)
Memphis had 1 top ten team (EKU)

4 ORCS winners placed in the top ten (NYU, Furman, Cal Berekley, and Richmond)
4 did not.

4 Regionals winners placed in the top ten (Miami, Georgetown, UC Irvine, Cal Berkeley)
19 did not.

Take this for what it's worth.

How many times did I post just how brutal Irvine was?

I adamantly believe even today that there were 3 or 4 teams in Irvine who were National Championship Caliber teams that would have probably placed in the top 10 in their division at the final tournament and were not present in Iowa. But I know those teams are going to come back stronger than ever next year  :gavel:

Best of luck Jimmy, as well as to anyone else that may have to compete in Irvine for ORCS.

Agreed. If one or two of the West Coast powerhouses can afford it, they should be sent to the Kansas City ORCS or its equivalent next year.

Heck, now that I've graduated and wouldn't potentially have to face them, I'm all for this! Last year, though, hellll nah.
