I don't think anyone doesn't take regionals seriously. Like maybe when teams are eliminated, sometimes (and even this is rare) teams will have a round 4, fuck-it theory. Realistically though, I have never seen a program's A, B, C, or D team not go into regionals thinking it is a very serious tournament. We have seen some of the best teams in the country not make it through. It is always impressive to get a bid through, I certainly don't think I have any concerns that any regionals will be easier because teams wont be taking it seriously. That being said, I think we have seen that the bigger tournaments are, the wilder the results are. I expect Owings MIlls, Minneapolis, and Orlando to follow suit with New Haven and Claremont.

Good luck to everyone else competing this weekend! Let’s see if this weekend of regionals was as strange as the others!

Does anyone who is at the Buffalo Regional know if Nick Ramos is competing? Looking for a first hand, in person sighting here people.

Strong second this request - this is probably one of the most important questions that haven't been answered yet

Lol I was wrong about St. Paul being predictable.

As expected, Colorado Springs was pretty top heavy- bye-bust going 7.5 seems pretty indicative of that. Grand Canyon getting a bid out was pretty surprising though.

A few notes looking over Week 3 results:

Carthage is back! They provided one of the wildest ORCS results back in 2016 when they swept Miami A on their way to a surprise NCT run in Geneva. Hopefully this time they wont comment on MTC as much. I'm also fairly surprised by Eastern Kentucky failing to advance, considering their history as a strong program: anybody know what happened there?

Of course, the results from MN are pretty surprising: especially looking at some of the schools that got bids where Chicago B did not. I also wonder about whether this is a down year for University of Washington: I haven't heard much about them (besides a great performance at UCLASSIC) and they seemed to struggle at their own regional, barely getting out.

They're a good program. They got unlucky with pairings. If they hadn't hit UT Chat in round 4, they would probably be riding the open bid list right now.

I saw Washington A at UCLASSIC and they were extremely good. I would be surprised to see them anything other than competitive in round four of ORCS, and most likely making Nats.

Same here. I have no doubt that they'll be a strong contender at ORCS, especially since that judging pool seems to like them based on UCLASSIC results. The only real concerning result at regionals was dropping both ballots to a 3-4-1 Oregon State University team, but I think one round can be overlooked as an anomaly. Beyond that, they only dropped one ballot to Oregon B, who went 7-1.

The latest information we have was of their B team going 6-2 and coming second at their own tournament. They also went to UF’s invitational and were the only non-UF team to place. These two recent results seem to indicate to me that deserve at least a mention in the “bubble” conversation, and that they will, at the very least, be competitive that this regional.
